Film academy president inspired to push for more diversity

The film academy has been under fire for the lack of diversity among this year’s Oscar nominees: All 20 acting contenders are white, and no women are represented in the directing, writing or cinematography categories. After the Oscar nominations announcement on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite started trending on Twitter. Isaacs, the first black president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, talked with The Associated Press Friday about the diversity controversy and what comes next.
