Syria refugee women tell their story through 'Antigone'

Isra Shahrour takes part in a studio exercise during an eight-week drama workshop in Beirut which culminated in performances of 'Antigone in Syria' The women, whose show opened Wednesday at Beirut's top Madina theatre, had no previous acting experience. Narrator Mona, 29, lost her son to cancer after she was unable to get treatment for him because of Syria's nearly four-year war. One scene shows a young woman from Daraa province, birthplace of Syria's revolt, recount her struggle after her husband ordered her to wear the full face veil, or niqab.
