Globe-trotting guitar project comes to Motown

Sean Blackman plays his personal guitar in Troy, Mich., Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. Blackman participated in The Acoustic Guitar Project, created by New Yorker and Detroit native Dave Adams. The rules are simple: Give a guitar to a songwriter for a week. In that time he or she must compose a song, record it, upload the recording and a photo with the guitar. The guitar then is signed and delivered to another artist. Now, Detroit — home to the Motown Sound, modern techno and the Queen of Soul — has its own ax circulating among unsung musicians.
