Taiwanese painter keeps up movie-poster tradition

In this Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 photo, local artist Yan Jhen-fa describes his career of painting movie posters at his makeshift sidewalk studio for the Chuan Mei Theater in Tainan, Taiwan. The Chuan Mei’s main attraction is the colorful 3-meter (9-foot) -square oil-painted advertising posters hung above the theater entrance to illustrate the daily bill of fare. They are the life work of 61-year-old Yan, the last practitioner of this once-popular art form in the country.
