Soprano taking her Bruennhilde on the road

This Jan. 28, 2015 photo provided by the Canadian Opera Company shows Christine Goerke as Brünnhilde in the Canadian Opera Company production of "Die Walküre, " 2015, conducted by Johannes Debus and directed by Atom Egoyan, at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. In April 2015, Goerke stars in a production of “Die Walkuere” in Houston, then over the next two years tackles the other two “Ring” operas in which Bruennhilde appears: “Siegfried” and “Goetterdaemmerung.” (AP Photo/Canadian Opera Company, Michael Cooper) Like a Valkyrie swooping down from her mountaintop, soprano Christine Goerke is poised to descend on America's opera houses — but instead of wearing a set of wings on her shoulders, she's carrying the role of a lifetime.
