Media mogul, fashion designer to fund NY pier park

This artist's rendering by Heatherwick Studio and provided by Risa Heller Communications shows a proposed park and performance space, center, to be known as Pier 55, in the Hudson River on the lower west side of New York. The park, to be largely funded by media mogul Barry Diller and his wife, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, would be built on an undulating platform jutting about 180-feet into the river. It would include an open-air amphitheater and a plaza that could be used for a variety of performances.
