World War I: the war that inspired innovative art

This May 13, 2004 file photo shows Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's passport dating from World War I on display at Christie's auction house in London. The passport and some 3,000 other items were among Doyle's lost papers that were found in a London law firm's archive where they were stored and forgotten after they were taken from Doyle's writing desk in 1930, following his death. Arthur Conan Doyle met with troops in the spring of 1916 and completed his work "A Visit To Three Fronts" over the summer.
