US TV channel cancels Baldwin show

Actor Alec Baldwin (L) and daughter model Ireland Baldwin arrive on the red carpet for the 65th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on September 22, 2013 US TV network NBC announced Tuesday it was scrapping a late-night chat show fronted by A-list star Alec Baldwin following a stream of angry outbursts and alleged gay slurs from the actor. MSNBC already suspended UP LATE earlier month after Baldwin, notorious for frequently lashing out at paparazzi, allegedly subjected a photographer to a homophobic slur in New York City. "We are jointly confirming that UP LATE will not continue on MSNBC," said the network and Matthew Hiltzik, a representative for Baldwin, in a statement Tuesday. Baldwin apologized after the incident outside his New York City apartment on the same day that his convicted stalker, Canadian bit-part actress Genevieve Sabourin was sentenced to jail.
