Personal story for Shriver: series on Alzheimer's

FILE - This May 1, 2012 file photo shows Maria Shriver speaking at the 7th Annual MOCA Award to Distinguished Women in the Arts luncheon in Beverly Hills, Calif. Shriver says her daughter Christina is so terrified of her mother getting Alzheimer’s disease that she’s constantly introducing her to games that will keep her mom’s mind active. There’s a family history to explain the concern: Maria Shriver’s father, Sargent, died of Alzheimer’s in 2011 at age 95. Maria, who is back at NBC News, began a week-long series of reports on Alzheimer’s that is airing on the “Today” show, “Nightly News” and other network platforms starting Tuesday, Sept. 3.
